Cape Honeysuckle
Tecomaria capensis

Great shrub to grow by the seashore in the Carolinas. Evergreen with bright orange trumpet shaped flowers which bloom in the fall. Fast growing to 6 to 8 ft. or more wide, vining stems 15 to 30 ft. long. Once this is established it requires little watering. One positive to this shrub is it is deer resistent. It will attract hummingbirds, butterflys to your yard. Many birds love to make nests in the shrub due to the dense shelter.

This shrub can be a scrambler if left on its own. Cape Honeysuckle makes a good vine for a trellis or Pergola. It grows very quickly and would be a good choice. If left to vine less trimming is needed except, removing suckers so the plant grows up instead of out.
